The artisans are organized in cooperatives that are located in small towns of Uruguay's countryside.
We spin and dye our yarns in the coops of Fraile Muerto, Rio Branco and Dragón.
These are the artisans that, with dedication, skill and care, create the wonderful yarns for the world to enjoy.
With their jobs at Manos del Uruguay, the artisans are able to provide for their families and raise their children without having to emigrate to Montevideo’s poor areas.
Everyday the work gets mixed with the talks about their families, their concerns and joys, the stories of each of them gets tied to the tread in thier hands.
Each Manos skein has a tag with the name of the artisan who made it and the coops location.
Its a way to connect the knitter and the artisan that created the yarn.
